Victorians

I decided to look at the victoriuans as i found that this was when there was a divide in social staus you had the wealthy royals and the poor workers that were involved within the industrial revolution. I looked at the clothes they wore and neck pieces also drawing images of them. i made some samples oft eh neckpieces using a doli with paint and batik. i did a piece where i layered net fabric and used the soldiering iron on it and atempted to coffee stained it however the fabric was weak and it didnt hold well but there is a little effect on it. i made another sample where i gathered the top layer and the next two layers i pleated one with newspaper where i burnt and white fabric which i coffee dyed to make it look rustic.

Tudors

I looked into the tudors because it was a time in british history that i felt was most relevant to me because it was very interesting. i researced into it finding out aboput henry tudor and hisd wives. i got some secondary images and drew primary ones from them. i had decided to look at neck pieces and compare them with other time periods, they were jewelled and rather circular. i made another word page wioth words relevant to that period such as 'wealth' and made samples of neck pieces buy gathering and burning and using the soldiering iron to make holes. i like this section of work however to improve i needed to make more sample of circular neck pieces as that was the final result i wanted to achieve.

when i looked at british history i felt there were certain words that stood out to me i made a collage of these with thye stenciol and coloured certain ones like fish and chips! i think a few more relavent words should have been coloured in.

Time Line

I created a time line to look through each stage of british history- the famous ones. I got secondary pictures and drew primary ones on. i coffee stained it and burnt it. the final result is good but it could have more primary photos on.

Vivenne Westwood

I like how Vivenne Westwood has a very unique style she is quirky and outstated this is what makes her such an influencial British Designer. I think she can be very influential in my project as her work is outgoing like british history, i will use the flags and safety pins in my work.

Anselm Kiefer

He is a German painter and sculptor. His works incorporate materials such as straw, ash, clay, lead, and shellac. The poems of Paul Celan have played a role in developing Kiefer's themes of German history and the horror of the Holocaust. In his entire body of work, Kiefer argues with the past and addresses taboo and controversial issues from recent history. Themes from Nazi rule are particularly reflected in his work.

Designers

I have looked into fashion designers John Galillio, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood as they all have links with Britain and British History. Galillio is half british and studied in England. He attended St Martin's College of Art and Design, where he graduated in 1984 with a first class honours degree. He was awarded British Designer of the Year in 1987, 1994 and 1995. In 1997, he shared the award with Alexander McQueen, Galliano's successor at Givenchy. Media fashion celebrity Susannah Constantine has worked for Galliano in the past. and he has also aided the future success of other designers including the renowned shoe designer Patrick Cox.
